Well with the most recent snow on October 23rd another summer is done in the Canadian Rockies. Highlights are a little different this year as Brian spends his time on the couch mending a knee injury so most outdoor activities are put on hold. Highlights are Eva growing the best veggie garden ever and Brian buys a fancy camera! So prepare for a photo dump of epic proportion.

Part I: Eva's Garden

Eva hard at work in the garden

Eva picking some veggies

What grows in the garden you ask?

Cherry tomato's on the vine

Squash not yet ready to pick

Spaghetti squash fresh off the vine

Fresh tomatoes ready to be eaten!

Fresh tomato's and basil - time to eat!

Potato's straight out of the ground

lets take a closer look

Freshly cleaned and ready to be eaten

Raspberries picked - yummy!

Lets not forget the onions and is that garlic I see?!

Carrots and snow peas!

Eva scouting for what else is ready to harvest

Excited to see what the peas have to offer

Of course there are flowers

Which attract the bees to keep everything growing!

Sunflowers are a favorite not just amongst the bees but also the local squirrel population

Pretty flower or the mouth of an alien creature??? I'll let you decide...

All that time in the garden has Eva thinking she is a flower

While inside the orchids enjoy some morning light

Last but not least fresh made apple cake straight from the neighbors tree into our yard!

And just like that the sunsets over the Bow valley and another day awaits for garden adventures

Part II: a few adventures

Injuries, work and travel commitments managed to gobble up a lot of our time that said we still managed to go on a few adventures the past couple months. First up was a nice long weekend up to the Old Man Gap. This would be Brian's first real test of his knee, will it buckle under his own weight? Lets hope not!

Eva all smiles at the Old Man Gap

Getting ready to climb

Perhaps there is a line here we should climb?

After climbing we find a nice place to spend the night

sleeping under the milkyway

The next day we explored further along highway 40, Eva crosses a stream

or 2...

or 3....

to see whats on the other side

Snow came to the mountains in late September so we decided to hike up Pigeon Peak. Maybe there is a mountain back there???

Yep!

Eva enjoys the snow

and the views

up we go

as do the sheep

not to be left out, Brian also enjoys the views

Alas its time to go down

Back to where the leaves are yellow and snow is no more

With the cooler temperatures in place we head out to Dinasour Proviencial Park with our friends Tobias and Nicole. Eva and G happy to have arrived - is that a dinasour I see?

The park is not just known for its dinasours but also its badlands

interesting rock formations

good for taking photos

Eva bored with the geology, looks for dinasours

eventually the sun sets

Eva enjoys a book

the milkyway comes out

followed by the northernlights

in the morning Eva boils some water for coffee and tea

enjoys the sun with G

and hugs a tree

Blatent photo dump

Injured knees and busy schedules kept the adventures to minimum this fall but armed with his new camera Brian photographed what he could. Including shots of the:

milkyway

star trails

northern lights

sunrises/sets

Fall colors

vast vistas

and chilly mountains

and thats the way it is.... G and T out!
